Walt Disney Animation Studios has provided us with some high-definition images from his next short entitled The Ballad of Nessie , which will appear before their new film Winnie the Pooh , when it will debut this summer, 15 July.
Narrated by Scottish comedian Billy Connolly and directed by the Orca team winner, Stevie Wermers-Skelton and Kevin Deters ('Prep & Landing', 'Operation Secret Santa' and the short of the 2007 Goofy How To Hook Up Your Home Theater), The Ballad of Nessie is animated with the classic Disney animation style. Written by Wermers-Skelton, Deters, and Regina Conroy, the film is produced by Dorothy McKim and Tamara Boutcher, and features a musical score written by Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino (Ratatouille, Up ). Animating 'Nessie' was supervised by five of the best talents of Disney: Andreas Deja, Mark Henn, Randy Haycock, Dale Baer and Ruben A. Aquino. Set
blue highlands of Scotland, The Ballad of Nessie is a large and colorful whimsical tale about the Loch Ness monster, however, made in friendly version, Nessie, is the story of how she (and her best friend, MacQuack, rubber duck) have arrived to live in the lake we now call home. To put the adventure in motion is a greedy landowner named MacFroogle, who decides to build an empire, a mini-golf right at the top of the house of Nessie.
The short had its world premiere Soul Film Festival in Belgium. A book adaptation (written by Kieran Lachlan and illustrated by Andy Harkness) will be published May 3, 2011 and is currently available for pre-order on Amazon.com
